About Dr. Breedy

Movement changes the brain.

EBA was founded by Dr. Edson Breedy — a doctor, martial artist and bodybuilder who uses structured physical training to build psychological stability, not just fitness.

When you train here, you’re not just building muscle. You’re regulating dopamine, improving serotonin balance, and developing the neurological capacity to handle stress.

From the Founder

My journey into martial arts began at Hillview College and grew during my psychology studies at Howard University — where I dedicated myself to Taekwondo, earned my black belt, and went on to represent Trinidad & Tobago on the National Team. Training in Mexico, South Korea, and Japan taught me discipline, resilience, and the mind-body connection.

Inspired by the birth of my daughter, I pursued a career in medicine and specialized in mental health. That background, combined with the athletic road, informs the holistic approach we take at EBA — addressing both physical and mental well-being. I look forward to welcoming you to our gym.

“Discipline is the ability to do something you don’t want to do now, so you can have what you want later. The results you want come from the days you show up anyway.”

— Dr. Edson Breedy · Founder & Head Coach

Training isn’t just physical. Every session is regulating your nervous system, improving your mood, and building psychological resilience. On the days it feels pointless — that’s usually when it’s doing the most important work.

The EBA Method

Beyond the workout.

Most gyms train your body. EBA trains your response to life. Six principles run through every class, every coach, and every program in the building.

Structure over motivation

Motivation fluctuates. Structure doesn’t. We build a system that makes showing up the default — not the exception.

Technique before strength

Strength without technique is inefficient. Once your movement is correct, strength builds naturally on top of it.

Progress over perfection

Your only benchmark is your previous self. Mistakes are how the brain refines movement. Here, that’s expected.

Neuroscience-backed training

Exercise increases dopamine, serotonin, and BDNF. Every session improves mood regulation, cognition, and stress resilience.

Community as accountability

Surrounded by focused, disciplined people, you naturally elevate. That’s something you can’t replicate alone.

Long-term identity formation

Every session is a vote for the person you’re becoming. Eventually you stop going to the gym — and become someone who trains.

Everyone Is Welcome

Wherever you’re starting from.

You don’t need to be fit, coordinated, or confident. You just need to start. EBA is built for people at every stage.

Anxiety & Depression
Mental Health
Exercise reduces symptoms, regulates your nervous system, and improves sleep. You don’t need to feel calm to start — starting helps you become calm.
ADHD
Neurodiversity
Training regulates dopamine, improves focus, and gives structure to your day. We create an environment where you can thrive.
Autism
Neurodiversity
Routine, repetition, and predictability. Training helps with coordination, stress regulation, and confidence. You go at your own pace.
Kids & Parents
Families
Children 6–11 build discipline through movement. Parents — train while your kids train. Show them what you’re made of.

Voices from the Mat

What happens when you stay.

These aren’t performance reviews. They’re accounts of what changes when you commit to showing up — physically, mentally, and as a family.

“My husband and I really had no recreational time for the kids or ourselves. Now that’s a thing of the past — we’ve taken the decision as a family to join, and our family has bonded closer and stronger than ever. Family matters. Money is not everything. And this class has shown us that.”

Misty Antoine · EBA Member

“I’ve been there almost a year now. I’m happy I can do multiple classes and not feel hard to go to them. I love love love EBA. It’s my home away from home.”

Lixie Uchiha · Member

“My first class — halfway through I felt like I was actually learning a skill while getting a workout in. Something you just can’t do in a gym. By the end I felt energized.”

Leeann Nicome · Member

“This place makes you feel like family and shows you a way to enjoy your life. One of the best places in the world.”

Do you offer martial arts classes for children?

Yes. We run Taekwondo and youth kickboxing for children from age 5, plus programs for teens. Classes build discipline, coordination and focus in a supportive environment.
