Frequently Asked
Questions

1What is the difference between boxing and kickboxing?
Boxing focuses solely on punches and footwork, while kickboxing incorporates kicks, knees, and elbows in addition to punches.
2Do I need any prior experience to join boxing classes?
No prior experience is needed. We offer classes for all levels, from beginners to experienced athletes.
3What should I wear to a boxing class?
Comfortable workout attire, including athletic shoes, shorts, and a t-shirt, is recommended. You'll also need boxing gloves and hand wraps, which can often be purchased at the gym or borrowed for your first class.
4How often should I attend boxing classes?
For optimal results, we recommend attending classes 2-3 times per week. However, even once a week will provide noticeable benefits.

The hardest
workout you’ll
learn to love.

Boxing is among the most demanding cardiovascular workouts in existence — and one of the most rewarding skills you can develop. At EBA, we teach real boxing technique, not fitness-class shadow boxing. You’ll learn to move, defend, and strike with precision.

Dr. Breedy treats every boxing session as a neurological event. The combination of coordination demands, cardiovascular intensity, and strategic thinking floods your brain with dopamine and BDNF — compounds that regulate mood, motivation, and cognitive function.

The neuroscience: High-intensity boxing raises cortisol acutely — then drives it sharply down post-session. This is how boxing literally reduces chronic stress over time. You don’t just feel better after class. Your baseline anxiety drops.

Every session
delivers this.

01
Cardiovascular conditioning937+ cal/hr when you’re working. Heart capacity improves measurably within weeks.
02
Stress regulationThe physical intensity discharges cortisol, leaving you calmer and more focused than when you walked in.
03
Coordination and reflexesJab timing, slip reactions, footwork patterns — boxing rewires your nervous system for faster, sharper movement.
04
Transferable confidenceKnowing you can handle yourself changes how you carry yourself. Composure under pressure goes far beyond the ring.

What you’ll
actually learn.

EBA boxing is structured and progressive. Beginners start with fundamentals. You don’t touch sparring until your technique is safe and solid — no exceptions.

01

Stance, guard & footwork

The foundation of everything. A correct stance makes your punches more powerful and defence more reliable. Footwork is what separates boxers from brawlers.

02

The four punches

Jab, cross, hook, uppercut — each with correct mechanics, weight transfer, and hip rotation. You’ll hit harder with less effort the moment technique is right.

03

Defensive movement

Slipping, rolling, parrying — boxing is 70% defence. Learning to not get hit is where composure is built. This is the part most gyms skip.

04

Combinations and pad work

Once individual punches are clean, you’ll chain them on pads. Pad work is where cardiovascular intensity peaks — and where real skill develops fastest.

05

Sparring readiness

Controlled, technical sparring for those who want it — never forced. When you’re ready, sparring is where everything ties together. Problem-solving at speed.

You don’t need to
already be a fighter.

Every serious boxer started with zero experience. The only thing we require is that you show up consistently. We handle everything else.

02

Fitness Seekers

People bored at the gym

Treadmills don’t teach you anything. Boxing gives you a skill to develop while achieving better conditioning than almost any other workout.

03

Competitors

Those who want to fight

EBA has a competition pathway for those who want to test themselves. You’ll train with people who compete, and if you want to, we’ll prepare you properly.

04

First-Timers

Complete beginners

The most common story at EBA: “I was terrified to start.” Six months later they say they wish they’d started sooner. All you have to do is walk in.

When we
